Arizona Dance Classic

Well, we were pleasantly surprised the Arizona Dance Classic, which is mostly a country western competition had a ballroom segment on Sunday and it was a fun time. The MC and the music director did a good job. We weren't doing quickstep to no country tune that was for sure. And a good time was had by all, even though we did not have a lot of competitors.

Backstage Scoop From So You Think You Can Dance's First-Ever Double Elimination - E! Online

A man and a woman performing a modern dance.Image via Wikipedia

So you think you can Dance loses great dancer.

Check out the link below This is one of the greatest shows on tv today!

We love ballroom dancing. And ballroom dancing is our favorite part of this show. But you can't help but enjoy the hip hop, Break dancing, and modern dancing also.

We could be moving back in time to when all the people who were on television or in the movies had multiple talents of
dancing, singing and playing musical instruments. These will be the greatest stars. The ones that move on from shows like
American Idol, So you think you can dance, and even Dancing With the stars and consolidate their talents are the one to watch.

But perhaps what is greatest about these shows is that they are inspiring so many young and old people to take up hobbies such as dance.

New and Improved Dance Party

Gaskell302282006Image via Wikipedia
Ballroom Dance Party at the Adult Center has a whole new feel.
If you have been to the dance the last 2 fridays you may have already noticed an improvement.

After a survey several weeks ago, several members got together to discuss what can be done to improve the dances.  These include having greeters, bringing snacks, improving the music.

We are hoping there will be a new instructor offering beginning ballroom dance classes starting in August.
For the friday August 7th dance expect a hot new mix of music, greeters, food and snacks, and a great social dance event for Prescott.

Prescott Ballroom-- Top Studio San Diego Dancesport Championchips

Well here we are. Little Prescott Ballroom wins top Studio in San Diego. This is the second top studio in as many competitions.
Pictured from left to right: Organizers Wayne Eng and Wendy Johnson, students Ivy Laib, Janet Hafner, Our fabulous instructor Paul Jack, Patrick Wilcox, Anne Downes, Karen Wagley, and Dee Ritchey.

We are grateful to have the opportunity to participate in this competition. It was a lot of fun. The show on Saturday night was a spectacular mix of young amateurs (dancing like pro's) and top pro's.

We hope we will be able to go next year and have more participation from Prescott Ballroom. We were short one competitor Judy Nixon due to an emergency and she was greatly missed.

In addition to top studio we had the following winners. 3 students in the top 20 overall. Ivy Laib, Janet Hafner, and Anne Downes. Anne Downes won top female student overall. Patrick and Karen won the pre-novice standard amateur competition. Best of all Paul Jack won a well earned 2nd place for top teacher.
